Down with the SYKness: Nick’s 1% percentile F31 score

Congratulations to graduate student Nick Natale who scored a 1% percentile on his first submission F31 NRSA proposal!

The Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (National Research Service Award) program provides NIH funding to predoctoral students with a high potential for successful individual research careers. NINDS will provide 3 years of funding for Nick’s work on long-term neurologic consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection. His project is titled “Exploring the role of hyper-phagocytic microglia and SYK signaling in the aged hippocampus during COVID-19”.

Nick is co-mentored by John and Dr. Bill Petri. The Lukens and Petri labs had a joint pizza party at Mellow Mushroom to celebrate Nick’s achievement, pictured below.
